October Week 1: “TRUST IN THE LORD AND DO GOOD”

Hey Everyone,

I am extremely excited to have my brother, Eric Jackson join us for bible study today. Thank you, Eric, for sharing with us through the word of God.

Thank you for allowing me to share about Psalm 37:3-7(NIV) –

Verse 3.“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: 6. He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. 7. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Study Focus

Our theme for this week is “Trust in the Lord and Do Good”

- Psalm 37: 3-4;

Trusting in the Lord is not a passive action—it requires faith and obedience. Psalm 37 reminds us that even when the world around us seems unjust, our challenge is to place our confidence in God and continue doing good. Trust means leaning on His promises even when circumstances tempt us to doubt and do differently. Doing good means living in alignment with God’s Word—serving others, showing kindness, walking in integrity, and resisting the urge to respond to evil with evil. When we choose this posture of trust and goodness, God Himself provides stability, protection, and joy in the midst of life’s uncertainties.

Breaking Down the Verses:

·  “Trust in the Lord”: This calls us to rely fully on God, His Word, and His faithfulness rather than our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).

·  “Do good”: Trusting God is always connected to action. Our faith should produce fruit in how we treat people and how we live daily (James 2:17).

·  “Dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture”: This is God’s promise of provision and security when we remain faithful to Him. It echoes the image of the Lord as our Shepherd (Psalm 23:1-2).

·  “Take delight in the Lord”: To delight in Him means finding our greatest joy in His presence. When our hearts are aligned with God’s will, the desires of our heart begin to match His desires for us.

Questions for Reflection:

1.    What does trusting in the Lord look like in your current “chapter” of life?

2.    How can you “do good” even when others around you choose selfishness or wrongdoing?

3.    In what ways can you delight more in the Lord this week?

4.    Are there areas where you are concerned over others’ success instead of resting peacefully in God’s plan?

My Personal Testimony - Eric Jackson

There was a time not long ago I was faced with a difficult decision about work and finances. My instinct was to worry and try to fix everything on my own. But instead, I chose to pray and trust God, even when the outcome was not clear. During that time, God opened unexpected doors and provided in ways I could not have done myself. Looking back, I see that my part was to keep doing good—serving faithfully, staying honest, showing kindness—and God’s part was to work out the details for my good. That experience strengthened my trust in Him and taught me that His timing is always perfect.

Application for the Week:

This week, let’s make it practical:

·  Begin each day with a prayer of trust, surrendering your plans to God’s will.

·  Look for one intentional way to “do good” daily—encourage a friend, help a neighbor, or show patience in a difficult situation.

·  Write down one area of life where you worry, and instead, commit it to God in prayer.

·  Choose to delight in the Lord by spending extra time in His Word or worship.

When we practice trusting God and doing good, we position ourselves to experience His peace and His promises.

Blessings,

Eric Jackson
