Sept BIble Study: Week 2 GOD FIRST: "All These Things"

ree

Hey Everyone,

Last week we started our journey into what it means to live a life with God as our top priority. We focused on the command to "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness" (Matthew 6:33). This week we're going to get into one of the most powerful promises in the bible, the incredible promise that comes with “all these things”.

Scripture Focus:

Scripture Focus: Matthew 6:33 (NIV) - "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Study Focus:

Our theme for this week is "And All These Things Will Be Given to You as Well” - focusing on the assurance that He will provide for our needs.

Breaking Down the Verse:

  1. "and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)

The "things" Jesus is referring to are the very things we often worry about the most: shelter, finances, our health, family, food, clothing, and other necessities of life. So notice this, God’s promise isn't just for material things and wealth, but also a promise of provision. The word provision comes from “pro-vision”, which literally means “to see ahead”. This shows us that God already sees our future needs and prepares in advance to meet them. That’s exactly why we should praise God in advance for what we are expecting Him to do. If there’s something you are expecting God to do in your life or in the life of someone else, go ahead and just take a quick “praise break” right here, and give God a great praise!

So look at this - God’s provision for us also includes peace, strength, understanding, guidance, opportunities, and relationships that help us grow and fulfill His purpose for our lives. But always remember, everything is according to His perfect will and His perfect timing. So we have to stop worrying and start prioritizing God's will first. We have to trust that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more that we could ever ask or think, while understanding that His provision is about meeting needs, not just giving wants. This way of thinking frees us from stress and anxiety, and allows us to focus on what truly matters, His promise to take care of all our needs.

Question for Reflection:

What are some "things" in your life that you find yourself worrying about, and how can you surrender those worries to God? Can you think of something you worried and stressed about in the past, and God worked it out for your good?

A Personal Testimony

I want to be very transparent. One of the hardest things I had to learn to do in my life, was let go of things and people I know I could not control. I struggled terribly with trying to be “the redeemer”, “the provider”, and “the savior” of everyone in front of me. This would cause me great stress and anxiety. I had the heart to want to fix everything and everybody. But thank God I’ve lived long enough to realize that I was only trying to do God’s job. Being still and quiet in the midst of storms has now become one of my greatest achievements. Here are the top five things I’ve learned to do and I hope this helps you.

1. Seek God first in prayer about it.

2. Meditate to God about the situation and how you feel.

3. Talk to someone who you trust that can give you wisdom.

4. Praise God in advance for your expected end, while excepting His will.

5. Let go and let God.

Application for the Week:

This week, let's be intentional about releasing our worries to God. When a feeling of anxiety or fear creeps in, take a moment to pause and pray, "God, I trust you to provide for me and show me the way." Let's actively seek His kingdom and watch how He faithfully provides for all our needs..

What's Next?

Next week, we'll talk about the practical side of this promise and how we can further apply it to our daily lives. We’ll also look at what it means to relieve stress and anxiety through Jesus. Until then, may you find peace in His provision after seeking Him first.

Blessings,

The Trust The King Team
