After last week’s discussion on the freedom that comes from letting go, we're ready to tackle the practical side of trust: how to actively surrender in our daily lives. The idea of "submitting to Him" can feel difficult to do, but it's a powerful and liberating act when we apply it to our everyday decisions and habits.

 

Our theme for the week is In All Your Ways Submit to Him. We’ll be breaking down this verse that provides a clear roadmap for our journey..

"Trust In Action! How To Surrender Daily"

 

Scripture Focus:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Introduction:

After last week’s discussion on the foundation of trust, we’ve come to a powerful truth: true trust requires us to release our need to control and understand everything. The pressure to "figure it all out" can be overwhelming, but God invites us to a different way—a way of peace that transcends our limited perspective. This week, we'll explore the incredible freedom that comes from submitting, letting go and embracing God's wisdom over our own.

Breaking Down the Verse:

1. "in all your ways submit to him..." (Proverbs 3:6):

• This isn't about blind obedience, but about a conscious choice to align your will with God's. It means inviting Him into every single part of your life—your relationships, your career, your finances, even your smallest habits. This act of submission isn't a loss of control, but a gain of peace, as you are entrusting your life to a perfect guide through the word of God.

• Question for Reflection: Point out one area of your life right now where you may be doing things on your own, without inviting God in?

2. "...and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:6):

• This is the incredible result of surrendering your ways. When you choose to submit, God promises to lead and guide you. The Hebrew word for "straight" here can also mean to "make smooth" or "make plain." It doesn't mean life will be without challenges, but that He will clear a way for you and provide direction, even when you can't see the next step.

• Question for Reflection: Can you think of a time when you surrendered a situation to God, and He provided a clear path for you that you couldn’t have imagined on your own?

My Personal Testimony

 I was dealing with a family issue that made me feel as though I was all alone. The saying goes, there are two sides to every story, but I felt as though no one was interested in listening to me or cared about my truth. For a long while I battled frustration, stress and bitterness, even toward the people who I felt loved me most. I was definitely  feeling the pressure to figure it all out. I would pray to God daily asking him to fix the situation, but I had never fully released it to Him- and totally let it go. I was still trying to use my own will to win a battle that actually wasn’t mine to fight. It wasn’t until I decided to surrender it all to God, did I find the peace again that I was used to having. I needed to make the declaration to God, that I will TRUST YOU with all my heart, no matter what- even with this. Once I made that commitment to God, things began to smooth back out for me. The peace of God came over me and He provided even more clarity than I had ever experienced before. I actually laugh now and say, “I’m so glad I’m not leaning to my own understanding. But in all my ways, I’m acknowledging Him, and He is directing my path.” 

Application for the Week: 

This week, let’s practice "in all your ways." When you're faced with a decision, big or small, consciously pause and ask yourself, "What would it look like to submit this to God?" It could be as simple as praying about how to handle a difficult conversation or asking for guidance on how to manage your time. Observe how this intentional act of surrender brings a profound sense of clarity and peace.
