Hello Family and welcome back to our November series. Thank you for putting your faith into action with us this month.
Last week, we grounded our series in the blessedness of trusting God alone (Jeremiah 17:7). This week, we are looking into the definition of the very thing that drives all our challenges: Faith. True faith is bold because it operates outside the realm of what we can prove or see. This week's challenge requires a step of faith that moves beyond logic and requires you to trust God as your ultimate source of guidance and strength.
PERSONAL TESTIMONY: If we are honest, we would all probably admit that placing our full faith in God is not always easy. We understand it, we know that it works, but we don’t always apply it to our daily lives. Also, we must remember that placing our full faith in God does not always mean that the outcome will be what we desire. Yet trusting God with our whole heart- no matter the outcome, is when our true reliance on Him simply proves that we have let go of control. My faith in God has definitely grown over the years. I can surely admit there were times when I tried to figure things out on my own and wanted to get the outcome I desired based on my own personal feelings. Looking back now, I sure wish I had saved myself from that stress. But through it all, I gained so much wisdom and growth in my relationship with God. There are times when God will allow certain seasons in our lives to draw us closer to Him. I’ll also share as a reminder that “faith without works” is dead. (James 2:14-26) Just as we depend on God to do His part, we must do our part as well. There are times when the favor of God is upon us and blessings will come to us out of nowhere. But we can’t have the mindset that we’ll be able to prevent taking the necessary steps to help God help us.
Scripture Focus: Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) - "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Let's look directly at the word faith. Faith is not a feeling; it is a spiritual substance. A spiritual substance is something real - but invisible. Now if you’re not thinking in the spirit, that almost sounds unrealistic. But this classic verse tells us that faith is the material evidence of the things we hope for and the certainty of realities that are invisible to our natural eyes. Ok, let me break it down even more. It means knowing, deep down, that God's promises are more real than the challenges in front of you. BOLD FAITH requires a willingness to live and think as if God's Word is already done. And because I believe that by faith, I say, “Thank you Jesus in advance”! |
Breaking Down the Verse:
1. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for": • So let’s be crystal clear, faith is not “wishful thinking”; it is extreme confidence—a firm certainty—in the promises God has made. You can’t see faith with your eyes, but it’s real in your heart and spirit. Look at it like spiritual concrete - unseen, but super solid. So faith is actually “the substance” that strengthens and builds what you’re hoping for. When you have this kind of faith, even before a breakthrough appears, a circumstance changes, or the outcome you’ve been praying for turns in your favor, you can walk in the unshakable conviction that God is at work and His Word is built on a firm foundation. The songwriter wrote it like this, “On Christ the solid rock I stand - all other ground is sinking sand”. Stand on God’s word - by faith, knowing His words and promises are true.
2. “The evidence of things not seen.": • This is the foundation of BOLD FAITH. It means our conviction is so strong that we treat the unseen promises of God as already established facts, refusing to be swayed by what our physical eyes, or doctor's report, or bank account or government tell us. All I’m saying is, “God is in control”. The faith in your mind might say, “I’ll believe it when I see it”. But the faith in your heart should say, “I believe it because God said it, and that settles it.” So faith isn’t just believing with your mind, it’s trusting with your heart. When faith is rooted in your heart, it brings peace, confidence, and calm even in uncertainty - because your spirit is anchored in His truth. |
TRUST CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK: Write down three things you’re believing in God for before the end of this year. Put them each on a separate piece of paper. Place them somewhere you will see it on a regular basis. Each morning when you wake up and before you go to bed, pray to God by faith for the manifestation of those things. Remember to include Hebrews 11:1 while you pray.
