November Week 4 “Faith in Motion: Gratefulness to God”

Hello and Welcome to the final week of our November series.

Thank you for putting your trust and faith into action with us this month.

As we close out this month, we arrive at one of the most powerful and often misunderstood commands in the Bible: giving thanks in all circumstances; it's an act of profound trust that declares God is good, even when the situation is not.

This week's bible study requires a bold, proactive declaration of thankfulness that will shift your perspective before this busy holiday season begins.

Scripture Focus:

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) - "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Circumstances are temporary, but God’s character is consistent forever. When we choose gratitude even in the struggles of life, we are practicing advanced trust. We are telling God, "I may not like or understand the challenge that I’m facing, but I trust Your purpose is greater than my pain, and I thank You that You are with me through it." This is an act of spiritual warfare that defeats anxiety and opens the door for God’s peace to rule in our hearts.

Breaking Down the Verse:

1.    "give thanks in all circumstances":This command comes from God, but is spoken through the apostle Paul, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Notice the words: “in all” circumstances, not “for all” circumstances. This command recognizes that trials exist. However, choosing gratitude in spite of your situation, is the key to unlocking true contentment. It’s a deliberate, faith-filled choice that moves us out of a victim mentality and into a position of humble and grateful peace. God is not asking you to pretend pain isn’t real. He’s asking you to trust that He is still working, He is still in control, and He is still a miracle performing King. The command to be grateful is for our own good. It keeps your heart soft. It keeps your eyes on God and not the problem. It activates your faith. It shuts down fear and anxiety and it reminds you, you’re not alone.

2.    "for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.":• This reveals that gratitude is non-negotiable—it is God's direct will for His children. This isn't a suggestion; it's the environment in which we are meant to thrive. When we obey this command, we align ourselves with God's perfect plan and purpose for our lives. God wants gratitude to be the posture of our life. Not just sometimes. Not only when things go right. Not only when the blessing is visible, but in every circumstance. Gratitude keeps your heart aligned with Him. Gratitude literally places you in God’s will. And it's not just a feeling, it’s obedience. It’s the lifestyle of someone who truly Trusts The King

Reflection Questions:

  1. How can I experience a posture of gratefulness, even in the midst of my circumstance? (PRAYER)

  2. What can I praise God for right now, even in the midst of my circumstance- before the breakthrough happens. (PRAISE).

  3. How can I experience (PEACE) and be content in the midst of my circumstance? (Repeat 1 & 2).

What's Next?

Next week we begin our December series by preparing our hearts for the joy of the holiday season!

Until then, may your heart’s posture be prayer, praise and peace.

Blessings,

The Trust The King Team

Tony Jackson
