January Week 2

“Give God Praise"

Hello and Welcome back to Week 2 of our January series!

Last week we celebrated God's new mercies that we experience every morning. This week, we are sharing about what it looks like to give God praise even when things are going good in our lives.

Bible Study: Week 2, Scripture Focus: Psalm 34:1  “I will bless the Lord at all times, and His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Breaking Down the Verse:

“I will bless the Lord…”

This is a personal choice. A decision that you can make on your own. Just like David is saying, “I decide to honor God”. Blessing the Lord means speaking well of Him, thanking Him, and recognizing His goodness. The choice is yours, in good times and in bad times, God still deserves the praise.

“at all times…”

This means in every season — especially when life is going well. When blessings are flowing, we don’t take credit; we give God the glory.

“His praise…”

Praise is more than words. It is an attitude of gratitude and respect toward God. It’s acknowledging that every good thing comes from Him.

“shall continually be in my mouth...”

This means praise isn’t occasional — it’s ongoing. Gratitude should be part of our daily speech, not just a once-in-a-while response.

Let's look at King David and King Solomon to reflect on their gratefulness and praise to God.

Many people remember God when they are in trouble, but Psalm 34:1 reminds us not to forget Him when things are also going well. David made a decision to praise God continually—not only in need, but also in abundance. When life is good, praise should increase, not fade. God is the one who opens every door, provides every opportunity, and brings ultimate favor. When things are flowing, we should honor Him even more, by acknowledging His hand in every blessing. David experienced great success. He defeated Goliath, became king, and saw God establish his reign. Yet David never stopped praising God. When the Ark of the Covenant was brought into Jerusalem, David danced before the Lord with all his heart. He didn’t worry about the thoughts of others—he was just grateful. David teaches us that praise should grow with your blessings. The more God does, the more we should worship and praise Him openly.

Lets look at the life of Solomon. He was blessed with wisdom, wealth, and influence. Early in his reign, he gave extravagant worship to God, offering thousands of sacrifices and dedicating the temple with thanksgiving and honor. He recognized that everything he had came from the Lord. Solomon reminds us that success should lead to gratitude, not pride. When life is good, God deserves even more glory.

When life is smooth, bills are paid, doors are opening, and things feel stable, it is easy to get comfortable and forget God. But Psalm 34:1 calls us to keep praise on our lips even in seasons of stability and increase. Praise keeps us humble. Praise keeps us connected to Him. Praise keeps God first. And the bible says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Simple Praise Application:

• When blessings increase — thank Him more.• When doors open — give Him the credit.• When life is good — make sure He gets the glory.

Never let life’s comfort silence your gratitude. The God who blessed you deserves to be honored continually. So bless the Lord at all times.
